Pankaj Kapoor

Pankaj Kapoor is an Indian theatre, television and film actor. He has appeared in several television serials and films. He is perhaps best remembered in the title role in Karamchand, a surpassingly popular television series in the detective genre. He is also known for his role as a struggling scientist in the film Ek Doctor Ki Maut (1991). He made a brief appearance in the British Richard Attenbrough directed film Gandhi in 1982. In 2003 he appeared in the critically acclaimed adaptation of Shakespeare’s play Macbeth titled Maqbool.


Bollywood’s current heart-throb Shahid Kapoor is Pankaj’s son by his first wife Neelima Azeem. Pankaj is now married to Supriya Pathak.


Pankaj Kapoor the acclaimed film, television and stage actor signified the young crop of great actors of which Om Puri and Naseeruddin Shah formed a part. Unlike his other counterparts Kapoor hasn’t broken the vow to work only in good Art projects. A perfect actor Pankaj Kapoor did his engineering from New Delhi and then joined National School Of Drama. Since then he has potrayed many a characters flamboyantly.


Like Om Puri and Naseeruddin Shah he didn’t hesitate to portray either a terrorist in Mani Ratnam’s Roja or to play a miser father in ‘Chameli Ke Shaadi’ or either a struggling scientist in ‘Ek Doctor Key Maut’ (probably his most flamboyant roles of all). The actor will be probably remembered best for playing a Duncan (William Shakespeare’s Macbeth) inspired character in the critically acclaimed ‘Maqbool’. To add more Kapoor’s flamboyance in Television serials like ‘Karamchand Jasoos’ to ‘Office Office’ as well as many a stage plays hasn’t been hidden.
